My work presents a snapshot of the mind in space and time. I try to reconstruct reality based on how sensory input is modified by memory and subconscious as well as by desire and disdain. The pieces are deceptively decorative, mixing digital technologies with intuitive expressiveness to show stream-of-consciousness as fantastical interiors and orbiting galaxies. By utilizing distortion and unexpectedly juxtaposed appropriated images, the works convey a dizzying visual experience akin to multi-layered, sampled music.

An obsession with interiors and design and the concurrent fantasy and aversion they conjure is explored in my art. I contemplate the emotions of being overwhelmed by abundance and gluttonous consumption while simultaneously reveling and repulsing in the ride. Some recent works push the images to the boundaries of losing focus. The source material of over-designed interiors are almost indiscernible.

My work consists of digital archival pigment prints as well as pieces on canvas and paper which utilize found fabric, computer modified imagery, acrylic and oil paint, wax, sand, herbs and dirt. I aim to achieve an opulence of color and a shifting perspective that can recreate the physical experience of disorientation that takes place within the mind's eye.

Influences include '70s feminist artists, Surrealist artists and the Pattern and Decoration movement, especially the works of Miriam Shapiro and Kim MacConnel. I'm also inspired by quantum physics, Carl Jung, Busby Berkeley and the perfection of Henri Matisse.

I most recently showed August '07 at the Deborah Page Gallery in Santa Monica, California. The show featured the "Offerings" series. I've also shown in Washington State and Northern California. I live and work in Berkeley, California.
